IEHA Awards
2024 AWARD FORMS ARE NOW OPEN!
The Illinois Environmental Health Association (IEHA) is committed to advancing the profession and helping those who work in the environmental health field. One of the more conspicuous ways IEHA does this is through its Awards Committee, which reviews applications for stipends, scholarships, and other awards, and then makes recommendations to the IEHA Board regarding who should be honored for professional accomplishments and outstanding contributions.
“Tom Chojnacki” NEHA Annual Educational Conference Stipend Award is conferred annually to a deserving member of IEHA who aspires to the professionalism that Tom Chojnacki modeled and promoted throughout his environmental health. The award was established to finance one IEHA member’s expenses to attend the National Environmental Health Association Annual Educational Conference (AEC). The stipend may be used for such expenses as airfare, up to five nights lodging at the conference hotel, full AEC registration, and $150.00 meal allowance. The applicant must be:
- An IEHA member in good standing.
- Be working full-time in the Environmental Health field.
- Must complete the application form on the next page and complete all the requirements listed there.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have never attended the NEHA AEC and who have never previously received the Tom Chojnacki Stipend Award
Sanitarian of the Year is an annual award to recognize a professional that serves as a role model for all members. This person goes above and beyond the normal excellence in his/her field, by teaching, training, and striving to upgrade their own departments and also the total environment as a whole. The recipient receives a certificate to honor these achievements. The award will be presented at the Awards Ceremony at the Annual Educational Conference. The candidate cannot nominate himself or herself for this award.
Newcomer of the Year is an annual award to recognize an outstanding environmental health professional with two years or less experience in the field. The recipient receives a briefcase stocked with assorted equipment commonly used in the profession, free registration to the IEHA Annual Educational Conference (AEC), which will be held November 8-9, and one-year free Active Membership in IEHA. The award will be presented at the Awards Ceremony at the AEC. The candidate’s supervisor must complete the nomination form below to be considered.
